The First Bible Church of the Lord’s Mission was founded by the late Jessie Lee Woodhouse.  In 1962, realizing the call of God resting upon her life, she was ordained a preacher of the Gospel. 

Pastor Woodhouse preached the Word of God as the Lord led her into open doors.  Throughout this time, she met and began working along with Reverend Nora L. Thomas in the gospel ministry at 173 Brook Avenue, in the Bronx.  At this location, through Pastor Woodhouse it became affectionately known as “The Prayer Center.”  They met there mostly for prayer and bible study for one year.  It was at this location that Pastor Woodhouse organized the “Order of Worship” for our Sunday morning worship services.  She chose the songs and scripture readings that we still practice today.  The first unofficial “church service” was held on June 20, 1966.

After two years, in search of a larger place to worship, the church was blessed and moved to 1790 Walton Avenue, in the Bronx with a membership of nineteen.   It was at this location, that the church began to be known by the name of “The Lords Mission Bible Church.”  The church had one ordained Deacon, Clifford Fisher and two Deaconesses, Gwendolyn Fisher and Willie Wingo-Andrews.  The doors were kept open and an invitation was extended to all.  The Lord blessed and continued to add to the church until it had a full house.

Many prayers were answered at our humble beginning and the Lord blessed us mightily, spiritually and materially.  As an official local church body hereupon became the statement of faith: Our Creed: The Bible, Our Strength: Prayer, Our Leader: God, and Our Destination: Heaven.

Under attack by the enemy, Pastor Woodhouse and her members were forced to relocate again due to a fire in the building.  However, with God on her side and His sovereign plan set in motion, the

church was sent to a temporary location in a basement graciously offered by  Deacon & Deaconess Anderson at 1805 Longfellow Avenue in the Bronx.  God prepared the way for Pastor Woodhouse and the church to be a blessing to the souls waiting “unaware” for their arrival.  Many souls were saved while worshiping in the basement.  To God be the Glory!

After about eight months, because of the growth of her congregation, through prayer and supplication, the Lord blessed her and the church yet again to the present location of 206 Bush Street in the Bronx, where the church remains.  It was at this time that the church was officially known as “The First Bible Church of the Lord’s Mission.” 

Under the ministry of Pastor Woodhouse, past and present, many have grown to become pastors, evangelist, deacons, teachers as well as leaders outside of the church.  Within the Church, there is a Sunday School department, which is devoted to providing its members with a strong foundation in Jesus Christ, teaching them how to live by His Word. There is a dedicated Usher Board and Nurses Unit that not only serves as the Pastor’s aides, but has been trained to provide comfort to members and visitors of the church.  Also, the Missionaries, following the example of Pastor Woodhouse continue to minister outside of the church by visiting the sick and shut-in, providing food, clothing or just words of encouragement and prayer.

On January 9, 2008, the Lord decided that it was time for Pastor Woodhouse to come home.  But she did not leave us alone.  She left us with great Shepherds that she taught and trained to be our next leaders. Our former  Pastor, and now the overseer, Reverend James A. McGraw and his wife, Elder Lillian K. McGraw.

In November of 2021, Dr. Dozier Under the leadership Of pastor James A. McGraw, was appointed assistant pastor of the 1st bible church of the lord’s mission. On March 13, 2022 she was Appointed as Pastor designate Of the 1st bible church Of the lord’s mission. As

she Continues to preach and  spread the gospel, Dr. Dozier was a speaker for the world renown National Action Network founded by The Reverend All Sharpton on March 19, 2022.

On  June 5, 2022,  Dr. Dozier was installed as Pastor of The First Bible Church of The Lord’s Mission and now celebrates her 1^st official year as our Pastor. Because of her unshakable faith in God and His Word, Pastor Dr. Adrian L. Dozier’s Unshakable faith shakes up everything! …That unshakable faith in her vision is the real fireworks.

Pastor Dr. Adrian L. Dozier works hand-in-hand with all auxiliaries. She  is well loved and respected by the members of The First Bible Church congregation and she is devoted to everyone’s well being.

Dr. Dozier is a bridge in the Gospel Gap and a relevant voice in this generation. She overcame every obstacle to be who she is, and she is just in her Genesis. Pastor have  stated  “I have encountered many challenges and setbacks, but God has allowed me to succeed far above expectations”
